MTC stands for "MIDI Time Code", and this was a feature not included in GarageBand. This meant that I could send this code to my hardware synthesizers, and it could play sequences of notes exactly with the tempo of the project file. The syncopated bass Ostinato was played using MTC, because when I came up with this sequenced loop, I couldn't wrap my head around the rhythm of a bass sequence that I, myself, came up with.
